Be Joyful & Do Good!

The Grace to Let Joy and Kindness Lead Again

📖 “I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they live."

Ecclesiastes 3:12

Sometimes, in the midst of doing the Lord’s work — especially in prophetic ministry, intercession, and carrying the weight of others’ pain — it can feel like the soul grows weary. We labour in love, but our hearts grow heavy under the responsibility. We long to see breakthrough, to see the fruit of our toil, to make sense of it all.

And yet, the Lord in His kindness whispers a beautiful truth: “There is nothing better than to be joyful and to do good for as long as you live.”

This isn’t just a sweet idea. It’s a divine invitation — a call to simplicity and purpose. The joy He speaks of is not superficial happiness, but the deep, abiding joy of walking in step with Him. And the goodness He calls us to is not perfection or performance—it’s the kindness, faithfulness, and beauty we offer the world around us.

It’s no coincidence that this verse follows Solomon’s musings on the burdens of life and the mystery of time. God acknowledges that we’re busy with much — He sees the work. But He calls us back to the why: not striving, but surrender. Not pressure, but presence.

Cherie shared a vision of David with his lyre — a tender, powerful picture. David played for sheep in the wild, and later for kings in palaces. No matter where he was, he carried the sound of freedom. He ministered through music, through grace, through joy. That same anointing, dear one, rests on you.

Reflection:

You don’t need to chase influence or strive for impact. Your greatest strength lies in carrying the sound of heaven wherever you go. Whether you’re leading or serving in secret, in peace or in strife, your calling remains the same: be joyful and do good.

That’s the kind of work that matters. That’s the kind of life that brings Him glory

Closing Prayer:

Father, thank You for the gift of this gentle truth. In a world that pushes us to do more and be more, You call us to simply be—to be joyful, to do good, and to trust You with the rest. I lay down the burdens I’ve been carrying, especially those You never asked me to hold. I receive Your grace afresh. Fill me with joy that cannot be shaken, and help me to do good in the small and unseen places. Like David, may I carry the sound of freedom into every room. Let my life be a melody of joy and goodness, to Your glory. In Jesus' name, Amen.
