📖“Under His wings you will find refuge…”
Psalm 91:4

There are seasons when everything goes quiet.
The fruit seems absent. The doors stay shut. The canvas remains blank. It can feel like God has stepped away — but what if He’s drawn closer? 🤔What if the silence isn’t absence, but intimacy? 🤔
I remember a time when the silence around me was deafening. I had poured everything into a dream — time, heart, prayer — and yet, the response was... nothing. No breakthrough. No physical fruit on my tree. No obvious sign that God was moving. Even my creative well seemed to have run dry. My paintbrush sat idle for months. The studio that once felt vibrant became a place of echoing stillness.
But one morning, I sat beneath a tree in quiet desperation, asking God where He was. The breeze stirred gently through the leaves, and I sensed Him whisper, “I never left. I’ve been holding you in the stillness.”That day, I didn't paint. But I wept — not out of despair, but release. It was the first time I truly understood that sometimes, God's nearness is soft, like feathers. Hidden, yes. But never absent.
It reminded me of how a mother bird hides her young beneath her wings. To the outside world, they are invisible. But to her, they are safe, warm, and so deeply loved. Our hidden seasons are like that. God is brooding over us, tending to the unseen growth within — preparing us for something we cannot yet perceive.
Just as a seed breaks in the soil before it ever breaks through the surface, our souls are strengthened in secret before they flourish in the light.
As it says in Isaiah 45:3, “I will give you hidden treasures, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the Lord...”
And in Lamentations 3:25, “The Lord is good to those whose hope is in Him, to the one who seeks Him. It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.”
So, if you're in a season where everything feels still, remember stillness is not stagnation. It’s a sacred space. You are being gently held under His wings, where no eye sees but His.

"Held in the Cloud of His Mercy" tenderly echoes the theme of divine refuge. Its gentle hues and enveloping forms visually embody the sacred stillness and hidden growth described in the reflection. Like a visual Psalm, it reminds the soul that even when unseen, we are wrapped in the soft strength of God's love. The painting becomes a sanctuary for the eyes, just as the words offer refuge for the heart.
