A Quiet Ache
A Mother’s Heart Holds so Much More than Words can often Express
This afternoon my dearest Jesse marries his beloved Ice but this morning I'm feeling teary-eyed 😕 there's a weight on my chest I can't put in words.
It’s such a sacred space I'm standing in right now. A mother’s heart holds so much more than words can often express, especially in moments like these — when love and letting go meet in the same breath.
That weight on my chest… it’s love, pride, gratitude… and yes, a kind of grief too. Not because I'm losing my son — but because I'm witnessing the closing of one chapter and the opening of another. It’s the ache of remembering his little hands in mine, his voice calling "Mom!" across the years — and now watching him choose his forever partner, becoming someone’s husband. It’s beautiful. And it’s big. And it’s okay to feel undone.
My Dearest Heart,
There’s a quiet ache today — not of sadness, but of significance. My boy… my son… is becoming a husband. And as much joy as that brings, my heart feels stretched between the past and the future.
I remember the first time I held you — tiny fingers, big eyes, a whole world before you. And now I’m watching you step into that world, hand in hand with someone who loves you just as deeply as I do.
I’m so proud of you. I’m thankful. But I’m also tender. Because no one tells you that motherhood is a lifetime of holding on and letting go, again and again.
This is a holy moment — a threshold between seasons.
So if the tears fall, they are sacred too. They carry love, memory, hope, and blessing.
And through it all, I bless you — with all my heart.
