If they’re comfortable tearing others down in front of you, they’ll have no problem doing the same to you when you’re not around. Gossip isn’t harmless — it’s betrayal dressed up as conversation, a counterfeit connection rooted in division, not love.
When gossip shows up, Scripture calls us to recognise it for what it is.
📖 "Whoever goes about slandering reveals secrets; therefore do not associate with a simple babbler." — Proverbs 20:19 (ESV)
So what do we do? We call it out — gently, yet firmly. We refuse to participate. And if it continues, we walk away. Because guarding your name, your peace, and your circle is not pride — it’s wisdom.
Those who speak life will never need to whisper in the shadows. Choose companions who lift others up, and you’ll find your own soul lifted too.
Prayer:
Lord, give me discernment to recognise gossip and the courage to speak truth in love. Help me walk away from conversations that grieve Your heart and draw me toward voices that echo kindness, honour, and truth. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
