đ âMary said, âBe it unto me according to Your word.ââ
Luke 1:38

Thereâs a quiet kind of courage in Maryâs âyes.â
She didnât ask for a five-point plan. She didnât demand guarantees. She simply said, đ âLet it be to me according to your wordâ â Luke 1:38, (ESV). In a moment that couldâve been filled with fear and hesitation, Mary chose to surrender, not because she knew how everything would unfold but because she trusted the One who was asking.
That kind of âyesâ is a sacred act of surrender. Itâs the laying down of our desperate need to understand and control and instead choosing to lean into the mystery of Godâs calling and saying yes before we know how which is brave. It means letting go of our terms and our timing. It means embracing uncertainty with open hands and a heart that whispers, âI trust You.â
This doesnât mean we wonât wrestle. Even Mary pondered deeply and carried questions in her heart (Luke 2:19). But she stayed available. She stayed aligned and through her quiet obedience, the most miraculous story in human history was set into motion.
Your âyesâ doesnât have to be loud. It doesnât have to be broadcast or understood by everyone else. It only needs to be honest, genuine and willing.
Because when you offer that wholehearted yes, even if itâs trembling, heaven begins to move. God weaves eternity through the thread of your surrender.
đ "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths." â Proverbs 3:5â6 (ESV)
So, hereâs the gentle invitation: You donât have to have all the answers. You just have to be willing to say yes.
Let it be.

âSanctuary of Goldâ whispers of Mary's quiet courage â a radiant sanctuary formed from simple trust. Gold shimmers gently across the canvas, symbolising purity and divine presence, like Mary's surrendered heart illuminated by her quiet "yes." The warm hues reflect the inner glow that emerges when we release control, trusting God to create beauty from our willingness. Just as gold is refined through fire, our hearts are purified through surrender. The painting becomes an artistic echo of Mary's humble faith, inviting each of us into a sacred space of trust and divine possibility.

Reflection:
When have you said âyesâ to God without knowing the full picture? What did you learn through that experience? đ¤
What fears or doubts make it hard for you to surrender right now? đ¤
How might trusting God in this season change the way you see your circumstances? đ¤
In what ways do you sense God refining your heart, like gold, through surrender? đ¤
