The Seed Must Die

Letting Go to Grow in the Fire of Promise

📖 “What you put in the ground is not the plant that will grow, but only a bare seed… Then God gives it the new body He wants it to have.”

1 Corinthians 15:37–38

There is something sacred about the hidden, buried places — where nothing seems to be moving, yet everything is being transformed.

Jesus, the life-giving Spirit, invites us into a rhythm unlike the world’s. It is not about striving harder or controlling outcomes. It’s about surrendering like a seed — allowing what was to die, so that what He has promised can rise in its time.

📖 “What you put in the ground is not the plant that will grow, but only a bare seed… Then God gives it the new body He wants it to have.” — 1 Corinthians 15:37–38 (NLT)

There are seasons when the Lord asks us to lay something down — not as punishment, but as preparation. A dream, a timeline, even a part of our identity. We feel the ache of letting go, the silence of waiting, and the fire that tests our devotion. But oh, beloved, don’t mistake the stillness for stagnation. In the soil of discipline, under the fire of Holy Spirit, something holy is taking root.

📖 “To learn, you must love discipline; it is stupid to hate correction.” — Proverbs 12:1 (NLT)

We grow not through comfort but through correction. Like the seed, we break open to become something new. This is the mystery of resurrection life — death must come first, and then the promise breathes.

  • So, what has He promised you? 🤔

  • Can you still see it with eyes of faith, even before it blossoms? 🤔

  • Can you allow your old form to pass away so His divine design may rise in you? 🤔

📖 “Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfil His promises to her!” — Luke 1:45 (NIV)

Our part is to believe before we see and trust before we understand. To be willing to be immersed — not only in water but in fire. Because He baptises us with both.

📖 “After me comes One who will baptise with Holy Spirit and fire.” — Matthew 3:11 (paraphrased)

This fire is not to harm, but to refine. Not to consume, but to consecrate.

The seed may feel forgotten, but it is not. You are not. Victory is already written.

📖 “But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ… Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.” — 1 Corinthians 15:57–58 (NLT)

You are not buried — you are planted. Stay strong in the soil. The bloom is coming. 🌱✨

Creative Prompt.png

Creative Prompt:

Take a small envelope or jar and write the promise He gave you on a folded piece of paper. Label it “seed” and bury it in a pot of soil, or place it somewhere you can’t open until a set time. As it rests, let it represent your surrender — not to forget the promise, but to allow God to grow it His way, in His time. Pair it with a drawing or painting of what that seed could become.

Closing Prayer:

Father, I thank You that death is not the end but the doorway to life. Teach me to love discipline and welcome Your correction, knowing it shapes me for promise. I surrender what was, trusting You to bring forth what is yet unseen. Strengthen me to endure the fire, to wait in the hiddenness, and to believe even before I see. Let every part of me become fertile ground for Your glory. I choose to trust the process, the pruning, and Your perfect timing. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
