On authenticity, belonging, and becoming who God created you to be

This little owl carries a truth that took me years to learn with my whole heart.

In my experience, one of the deepest roots of depression is living a life that is not authentically your own. Wearing masks. Editing yourself. Shrinking or reshaping who you are in the hope of being loved, accepted, or approved. It is exhausting work, and it quietly erodes joy.

Trying to be who we think others want us to be leaves us tired and frustrated, constantly reaching for an impossible standard. We were never created to please everyone. When we suppress who we are to secure belonging, we set ourselves up for disappointment and disconnection, both from others and from ourselves.

This owl stands as a gentle reminder. Wide-eyed. Unapologetically colourful. Tender and bold all at once. The golden words across its heart speak a blessing rather than a demand: be YOU tiful. Not perfected. Not polished for performance. Simply you, as God intended.

The flower it holds is not offered to impress, but to express. The soft brushstrokes and playful lines echo a deeper truth, that freedom begins when we stop striving to be someone else and start resting in who we already are in Him.
