📖“Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven."
Luke 6:37

“We judge others by their deeds, but ourselves by our intentions.”
How quickly we offer ourselves grace — “I didn’t mean to hurt them”, “My heart was in the right place.”
And yet, how swiftly we hold others accountable for what they did — regardless of what they may have meant.
This quiet double standard often hides in plain sight.
We justify ourselves through unseen motives.
We condemn others based on visible mistakes.
And if we’re honest, we rarely flip that lens inward.
But Jesus sees it all, the heart and the hands, the intent and the impact.
And He invites us to walk the narrow path where grace and truth meet.
He isn’t calling us to be blind to sin, but to be slow to judge and quick to understand.
To recognise that we, too, have missed the mark.
To release the heavy burden of judgment and pick up the lighter yoke of mercy.
“First take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”
— Matthew 7:5
Mercy begins when we stop demanding perfection from others — and start offering the same grace we so deeply long to receive.

Reflection:
Have I been harsh in judging someone’s actions without knowing their heart?
Do I excuse myself based on intentions while holding others to higher visible standards?
What might it look like to love others the way I hope to be loved in my imperfection?
Where have I needed mercy in my own journey? 🤔
Who have I judged by their actions while overlooking their humanity? 🤔
What would it look like to see others through the “mercy mirror” of Jesus? 🤔

Theme: Extending Grace — Seeing with Heaven’s Eyes
🖌️ Create a visual representation of “mercy” as seen through the eyes of Christ.
Imagine how Jesus views both intention and action — with compassion, truth, and deep understanding. Now, express that in your own way.
You might like to explore:
• A broken mirror mended with gold (inspired by kintsugi)
• Two faces — one judged harshly, the other seen with mercy
• A heart with two halves — intent and impact — both held in God’s hands
• Eyes filled with tears, reflecting both pain and compassion
• A scale tipped gently by a feather of grace
📖 Scripture to meditate on as you create:
“The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.” — Psalm 103:8
“Mercy triumphs over judgment.” — James 2:13

Closing Prayer:
Lord, search my heart.
Reveal where I have judged others unfairly or failed to extend the grace You’ve shown me.
Teach me to walk humbly — to hold others gently, as You hold me.
May I be a mirror of Your mercy in a world that rushes to criticise.
Help me to love truthfully, forgive freely, and live with a heart that reflects Your compassion.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
