There was a time when silence felt risky to me.
I used to fill every pause with apologies, afraid that stillness might be mistaken for weakness. I thought if I could explain just a little more, say it softer, or say it faster, maybe I’d be understood — maybe I’d be safe.
But over the years, the Lord has taught me the power of pausing.
Now, I let my silence be intentional. I pause before I answer — not to retreat, but to realign my words with my heart.
I no longer scramble to prove my worth in someone else’s pressure. Instead, I fill that space with discernment and in that sacred space, I’ve found peace that speaks louder than urgency.
Emotional intelligence, for me, has become less about reacting and more about responding — from a place of clarity, of calm, of trust in the Holy Spirit.
Every time I honour the pause, I deepen self-trust.
Every time I breathe instead of break, I choose growth over chaos, peace over pressure.
This hasn’t been a quick or easy journey.
It’s been woven through hard conversations, tender tears, and many moments where I had to remind myself that setting boundaries doesn’t mean I’m shutting people out — it means I’m valuing the voice God gave me.
Today, I no longer apologise for my stillness.
I protect it because my stillness is Spirit-led.
My peace is worth preserving and in that holy hush between question and response, I’ve learned something sacred:
Silence isn’t empty. It’s full of strength.
