š "If the spirit of the ruler rises against you, Do not leave your post; For conciliation pacifies great offenses."
Ecclesiastes 10:4

The Hebrew word for āspiritāĀ here is ר×Ö¼×Ö·Ā (ruach)ābreath, wind, disposition. It speaks of a mood or emotional gust that can swell suddenly, like a storm rolling in over calm seas. āRisesā implies an upsurge of force, the kind that can catch you off guard.
Ā
And yet, Godās wisdom whispers: āDo not leave your post.ā The word ×Öøק×Ö¹×Ā (maqom) means far more than a physical locationāitās your God-appointed place, your role, your calling. To step away from that in haste or hurt is to abandon the very ground Heās given you to steward.
Ā
Conciliationāfrom the Hebrew ×ַרְפֵּ×Ā (marpeā)āmeans healing, soothing, a gentle remedy. It is not weakness; itās the courage to remain anchored in peace when provocation invites you to react. Sometimes the most powerful move is not moving at allāstaying steady, heart tethered to the Holy Spirit, until the storm subsides.
Ā
Jesus modelled this before Pilate, calm and resolute in His mission, unmoved by accusation or anger. To stand in peace when another stands in fury is to reveal the Kingdomās unshakable foundation beneath your feet.

Reflection:
When has someoneās rising anger tempted you to step away from your calling or position? š¤
What would it look like for you to remain steady, anchored in Godās peace, in the middle of someone elseās storm? š¤
How can you let the Holy Spirit be the āmarpeāāāthe gentle healerāin tense or hostile situations? š¤

Creative Prompt:
Create an artwork or photograph that shows contrast between movement and stillness ā like waves crashing against an unshaken lighthouse, or a fragile flower standing tall in the wind. As you create, pray for the Holy Spirit to plant His peace more deeply in your heart.

Closing Prayer:
ord, You are my anchor when the waves of emotion rise around me. Teach me to stand in the place You have assigned me, to hold my ground in grace, and to let Your peace flow through me as a healing balm. May my calmness in You become a testimony of Your strength. In Jesusā Name, Amen.
