🖌️ When Church Hurts: A Cry for Justice, A Call for Healing 💔

I recently sat with a dear friend in my studio — a space where many tears have been poured into paint — and what she shared broke my heart.

She works in a church office. And yet, the words that surfaced were not what you’d expect from a place of faith: bullying, manipulation, dishonour, control. She feels silenced. Afraid. Wounded by the very leaders who should be carrying the heart of Christ.
Sadly, her story is not isolated. Over the years, I’ve heard many such testimonies — leaders betrayed, staff dismissed, families strained, hearts shattered.
The hypocrisy in some church systems is staggering… and it grieves the heart of God.
I’ve lived through my own seasons of spiritual betrayal — most notably during the division caused by vaccine mandates and I still carry the scars. Yet, I also carry hope. Because I know this:
God sees. God heals. God redeems.
This ought not to be. There is a better way. A way of honour. Of servant-hearted leadership. Of humility, not hierarchy.
🎨 I wrote a devotional to give voice to this pain and hold space for healing, paired with an image that captures that sacred wrestle between heartbreak and hope.
If you've been hurt by the Church, you're not alone. If you’re in leadership, I gently challenge you — lead with love, not fear. And if you're weary, may you find comfort in knowing: God will act. In justice, mercy, and truth.
