This week we discussed John 8:31-32

31Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

  • Dictionary definitions:

    • Abide = accept or act in accordance with (a rule, decision, or recommendation). "I said I would abide by their decision" Similar: comply with, obey, observe, allow, keep to, hold to, conform to, adhere to, stick to, stand by, act in , accordance with, uphold, heed, pay attention to, agree to/with, consent to, accede to, accept, acquiesce in, go along with, acknowledge, respect, defer to Opposite: flout, reject

 be unable to tolerate (someone or something).
 "if there is one thing I cannot abide it is a lack of discipline"
 Similar: tolerate, bear, stand
  • Disciple = a personal follower of Christ during his life, especially one of the twelve Apostles. Similar: apostle, follower

  • Disciple = a follower or pupil of a teacher, leader, or philosopher. "a disciple of Rousseau" Similar: follower, adherent, believer, admirer, devotee, acolyte, votary, pupil, student, protégé, learner, upholder, supporter, advocate, proponent, apologist, chela, bhakta Opposite: critic, opponent

  • We will know Christ who is the Truth

  • Knowing Christ sets us free from sin & bondage.

  • We must accept God's truth & act uphold it.

  • As Christ followers we need to study His actions & become more like Him.
